These are my favorite! I make handmade custom dream catchers of all shapes and sizes; if you can give me an idea I can do my best to bring it to life. I have any color you want, even or wrapping the outer edges and the string as well as beads and feathers. I can include whatever crystal you want, as long as I can find it. I have sizes from about an inch across up to about 15” across. As you can see from the photos I can do other unusual designs, though keep in mind I’m not a miracle worker and can’t guarantee it to be exactly as you imagine, it’s all a process! I’ve done my best to verbalize the history and meaning of the dream catcher below, along with a personal note so please take a moment to read each!

The history of the dream catcher begins in Native American culture, with a legend from the Ojibwe nation. They revered spiders as a symbol of protection and even comfort,  and so the ‘Spider-Woman”, or Asibikaashi, was born. She was the spiritual protector of children in the Ojibwe tribe, and as the tribe grew and spread out it became more difficult for her to be present for all the children. She created the dream catcher to serve as a protective talisman placed over the bed of children, though it is kept into adulthood and works just the same then. The bad dreams and negative energies become entangled in the web, and the good dreams and energies  escape through the center hole or the beads, or other important trinkets that are in the dream catcher, and climb down the feathers to the sleeping child below. When sunlight hits the dream catcher the next day, the bad dreams and energies are burned away.

There is much symbolism inside of each authentic dream catcher, which was originally made from all natural materials.

The hoop: This has been said to represent the world, the circle of life, the forces of the sun and moon going around in their never-ending cycles.

The feathers: Act as soft ladders that allow the good dreams to float down and comfort the sleeper below.

The web: Modeled after a spiders web in respects to the Ojibwe legend.

The bead: Traditionally, there was perhaps one or two beads, which is thought to represent the web weaver; the spider herself.

**I know that there are mixed feelings about dream catchers being made outside of Native American tribes and being marketed and sold. I am by no means trying to be disrespectful, and I’m not here to just turn a profit on these. Each one I make it crafted with my own practices as a witch, and are all intended to do the healing job they originated with. Crafting each one is therapeutic for me, it eases my anxiety and helps me to connect with my own spirituality in my own way, so please don’t come for me. This is why each one is custom to the person who asks for them, that way I have the chance to connect with the energies I receive from them and their guides to provide the best overall tool for their personal use. If you are looking for one of these handmade beauties, please understand the history and meaning that comes with each one, and respect those energies when you make this purchase. I hope you love your piece as much as I love the 10 I’ve made for myself and my deities, and that it brings you the same amount of comfort and good rest. Many blessings to you my friend!
